    Tino! I like your style. Living in Englewood/Sarasota in 1962-1964 gave me new insight into life....watching your family and other aerialists I went to school with in their backyards showed me courage at a time I needed it most. Bravo.

    No safety harnesses, no nets, no landing mat for falls. The general policy for the Wallenda family has been no nets, etc., since coming to America in 1928. The exception to the rule has been like in New York, where the law used to be that if you performed over 21 feet, you were required to use some form of safety device. .........Tino Wallenda

    In reply to Ara Cate: Although the 2 additional people did not contribute to the structure of the pyramid, it holds true that the pyramid and especially the 2 individuals at the ends of the pyramid were affected by having to balance those additional bodies. Being one of those 2 at the end, I can verify that they made a difference and were part of the BALANCE structure of the pyramid.

    Oh man this is so fascinating to to Mr. Tino Wallenda he's a fascinating and wise man. What an interesting and inspiring life to be born into a circus tightrope walking family. However Tino is right, you never know what's going to happen in life, so we all should live life to the fullest, and as Mr. Wellenda said with handwork, laser focus, and determination anythings possible. However The Wallenda Family is just living that notion to the extreme of course, but if you were brought up to walk the tightrope after 50 some years it becomes like walking to the mailbox to drop off a letter I suppose, or perhaps crossing the street, lol.

    • @SpeegBJ
      @SpeegBJ 4 роки тому

      Actually, the tightrope walker would not take anything, especially their focus, for granted and it would be like going to the mailbox. Their lifestyle, yes...would be natural...but walking on the wire would take massive focus, concentration, skill....and letting go of that and daydreaming or not paying attention....would lead to disaster. IMHO.

    • @erinmoore2786
      @erinmoore2786 7 років тому

      I'm not 100% positive that the Wallenda family members have never used a safety harness of some sort at one time or another and I don't know about the whole family as much as I have learned about the first Wallenda (can't remember his first name but I know he was the person who was portrayed in "The Walk", recently made into a motion picture about his walk on a wire that he was able to make cross the distance between the twin towers of the, at the time, newly built World Trade Center, which he technically did not get permission to do so when the police showed up to, basically, arrest him for his walk across the towers without the legal consent of the building and construction management of the property that was at the time still under construction and in the laws eyes according to federal regulation not up to code. He proceeded to walk back and forth a couple more times before they took him into custody and said if he was going to be arrested why not make it worth it.

    Absolutely incredible! The Wallenda family bravery and perseverance are without equal. My heat is pounding and palms sweating from just watching a few seconds. Andrea and Aurelia now the fourth generation. Are the bicycles modified so that the front wheel cannot turn, or are these just stock bicycles with the tires and handlebars removed?

    • @TWallenda
      @TWallenda 10 років тому

      Thank you. And actually, although Aurelia and Andrea are the 4th generation to perform on the wire, they the 7th generation performing in the circus. The bicycles are specially designed and altered Schwinn bikes. No tires, just rims. Tino Wallenda

    Sorry, although Nik and the Fabulous Wallendas did achieve a Guinness record for their 8 person/4 level pyramid later that year (August, 2001), this video is earlier that year as the Flying Wallendas performed the highest (25 feet high wire) 8 person pyramid and this 10 person pyramid. Also a Guinness record. The first man is Dieter Galambos. Nik is not in the pyramid. P. S. nik is my nephew, my sister's son. Tino Wallenda.

    The guy at 1.02 is Mario Wallenda, he was one of the 7 who fell in detroit 1962 when 2 others were killed and Mario left paralyzed from the waist down. some may remember him more recently crossing the chicago river on a sky cycle a few years back.

    Great analogy for keeping focused on one's goals, even when it's hard or you get distracted. And great wire work, too!
